Brent Flusty, D.O.

Interventional and Vascular Neurologist

Dr. Brent Flusty is an Interventional Neurologist and board-certified Vascular Neurologist from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (APBN) and is licensed in New York and New Jersey. He joined Interventional Neuro Associates in 2021, where he energetically pursues his passion for saving lives. He works tirelessly as a compassionate Vascular and Interventional Neurologist who is dedicated to doing his utmost for every patient he encounters.

About Brent Flusty

Dr. Flusty completed his undergraduate degree in 2011 at Michigan State University, where his choice of study already demonstrated his sensitivity to the needs of the individual; his major included a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society. He then pursued his medical education at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he earned his D.O. in 2016. Dr. Flusty moved on to complete his internship in internal medicine at the renowned NYU Grossman School of Medicine, staying on to do his residency in neurology, where he distinguished himself by becoming the Chief Neurology Resident.

In June 2021, Dr. Flusty completed a one-year fellowship in vascular neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. In addition to working for the innovative and highly acclaimed practice Interventional Neuro Associates, Dr. Flusty sharpened his focus and honed his skills completing a two-year fellowship in endovascular neuroradiology at NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn in 2023.

Dr. Flusty’s publications have appeared in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, such as Stroke, Neurology, and Journal of Neuroimaging. He has also delivered poster presentations at the acclaimed World Stroke Congress. Dr. Flusty zealously works to stay at the cutting edge of his field and is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the World Stroke Organization. His research includes stroke misdiagnosis in the emergency department, intracranial atherosclerotic disease, identifying causes of delay in stroke intervention, and COVID-10 related neurologic manifestations.

Dr. Flusty has selflessly dedicated himself to a specialty niche within his chosen career, which requires him to drop everything at a moment’s notice and dash to the hospital to save lives. He doesn’t just content himself with augmenting his medical knowledge and skills; he also attunes himself to each patient’s needs, developing an excellent rapport with them.

About Brent Flusty

Brent L. Flusty graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016, beginning his postgraduate medical training at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. He completed an Internal Medicine internship there in 2007, followed by a residency in Neurology at the same hospital from 2017 to 2020. He additionally served there as Chief Resident from 2019 to 2020.

Dr. Flusty went on to do a fellowship in Vascular Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center from 2020 to 2021, before joining INA in 2021 as a vascular neurologist. 

Dr. Flusty is interested in research and has notable publications on stroke misdiagnosis in the emergency department, intracranial atherosclerotic disease, identifying causes of delay in stroke intervention, and COVID-19-related neurologic manifestations. In addition, Dr. Flusty was an active participant in multiple international conferences, including the World Stroke Congress in 2018. He presented special case reports on intravenous thrombolysis in the ‘oldest old’ and on thrombolysis in probable cerebral amyloid angiopathy.

Dr. Flusty is also a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). In Dr. Flusty’s spare time, he follows, as a die-hard fan, all Detroit and Michigan State University sports teams.
