Dr. Jeffrey Farkas is a distinguished physician with extensive experience in the field of interventional neuroradiology. He completed his Medical School education at SUNY Downstate in 1991, followed by a residency at Albert Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center in Radiology. His passion for neurovascular care led him to pursue further specialization in neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology at the renowned Massachusetts General Hospital. 

Early in his career, Dr. Farkas made significant contributions to the field by establishing New Jersey's first academic interventional neuroradiology program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry. As one of the pioneering figures in the field, he played a pivotal role in advancing the treatment of Ischemic Stroke and Carotid Disease using catheter-based techniques. His groundbreaking work led to the early adoption of catheter-based procedures for treating Ischemic Stroke.

 

In 2004, Dr. Farkas relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he established the Neurointerventional Service line at Maimonides Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center. Through his efforts, Lutheran Medical Center became one of the first comprehensive stroke centers in New York State, providing comprehensive care for stroke patients. 

In 2011, with a deep and early understanding of the life-saving potential of mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke patients, Dr. Farkas recognized the critical need for expanded access to this procedure. This led him to create Interventional Neuro Associates, an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between patients and advanced stroke care. 

Through the assembly of a highly skilled team of interventional neurologists, Dr. Farkas ensured that Interventional Neuro Associates is well-equipped to deliver state-of-the-art mechanical thrombectomy services. The group's primary mission is to provide comprehensive, timely, and personalized care to stroke patients, regardless of their geographical location.
